All aircraft are configured identically,
with a complete range of communications equipment including HF, VHF/AM, VHF/FM and a
dual channel SATCOM system for digital voice and digital data transfers.
An integrated intercom system inside the aircraft cabin allows the surveillance
crewmembers and pilots to individually select com systems from the convenience of their
workstations. Listening and speaking capabilities for all coms are integrated with the
headsets so there's no separate mics or speakers to listen to. Each workstation head also includes
controls for the onboard SATCOM, allowing crew and clients to communicate to distant
ground based support personnel.
Inclusive of digital voice transmissions, the onboard data management system also
makes use of the SATCOM for regular intervalled binary messages to the ground
based Surveillance Information Server which displays in real time the location
and activity of the aircraft (target detections and identifications) over an
intranet or internet.
