Innu Nation Welcomes Provincial Airlines Expansion Plans
St. John's, Newfoundland

Sheshatshiu - The Innu Nation responded positively to the recent announcement by Provincial Airlines (PAL) that it plans to increase flights to and from Labrador in wake of the recent decision by Jazz to abandon its routes to Labrador.

"We welcome Provincial Airlines' planned expansion," stated Innu Nation President Peter Penashue. "With the current and future economic growth in Labrador in the mining, forestry and hydro sectors, safe and reliable air service is an essential component of our economic future."

Penashue noted that the decision by Air Canada's regional carrier to discontinue service to Labrador created an excellent opportunity for a Newfoundland and Labrador based company to expand and for the benefits to remain in the province.

The Innu have a strong existing partnership with Provincial Airlines through Innu Mikun Airlines, a joint venture between Innu Economic Development(IED) and PAL providing coastal air service in Labrador and now serving the Voisey's Bay project site.

"Through our partnership with Provincial Airlines, we understand the commitment by PAL to excellence through a high level of customer service and the ability to adapt to the needs of the people of Labrador." continued Penashue. "I am confident that PAL will effectively fill the service void left by Jazz."
